QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be at least 15 years old
  • Have all certifications current and provide copies for file
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Effective time management and communication skills
  • Ability to handle information in a confidential, objective and professional manner
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lifeguards are responsible for assisting in all aspects of the pool
  • Enforcing Arundel Swim Club pool rules by maintaining a professional attitude
  • Be on time for shifts
  • Communicate any potentially dangerous elements of the facility to the Pool Manager
  • Work as a team with other lifeguards
  • Remain alert and use all senses while guarding
  • Cleaning the deck and pool when necessary 
  • Maintain a clean and orderly guard room
  • Maintain clean and orderly restrooms
  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings and training
  • Set up the pool for various activities such as swim meets, parties, etc.
  • Be able to respond to an emergency and contact EMS
  • Handle all incidents in a manner appropriate to your training
  • Arrange deck and lounge chairs as needed

​LEAD A TEAM OF LIFEGUARDS IN MAINTAINING THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF A SMALL, FAMILY ORIENTED SWIM CLUB. THE POOL MANAGER AND THE LIFEGUARDS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ENFORCING ALL POOL RULES FAIRLY AND CONSISTENTLY. THE POOL MANAGER WILL ENSURE PROPER POOL WATER CHEMICALS, RECORD KEEPING AND MAINTAINING A CLEAN AND ENJOYABLE AQUATICS FACILITY.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from high school or possession of a GED
  • Must be at least 20 years of age at time of application
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid Certificates or obtain them before the beginning of the season
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) license (preferred, but not required)

Requirements
  • Open the pool at least 5 days a week.  Arrival time for opening is 11:30am. 
  • Available to work 40 hours/week from May 27, 2022 - September 3, 2022, including holidays
  • Weekend availability

  • Lifeguard: 1 year 
  • Supervising experience: 1 year (Preferred)
Responsibilities
  • Work involves ensuring the safety, cleanliness and security of a swimming pool and its grounds
  • Supervises staff in the pool operation during the aquatics season and must be available to work throughout the summer swimming season
  • Schedule and supervise staff for lifeguarding shifts ensures adequate staffing at all times
  • Ensure pool staff maintain a clean pool and surrounding areas and supervise all cleaning duties
  • Coordinate with the Treasurer to manage payroll for all employees’ hours worked
  • Communicate with and maintain effective relationships with the members, guests, and other staff
  • Handle patrons' concerns, and resolves minor disputes
  • Prevent accidents through enforcement of policies, rules and regulations governing the conduct of patrons using the pool and surrounding area
  • Oversee and conduct daily safety checks of pool equipment and surrounding area and report problems to the appropriate person(s)
  • Assist in making decisions to close the pool when deemed necessary due to inclement weather or extenuating circumstances
  • Accountable for the collection, recording and security of revenues at the front gate and snack bar
  • Accountable for daily (or as needed) reports and documentation of pool chemistry
